Roshan Digital Account for non-resident overseas Pakistanis around the world

Introduction of online Digital Bank account for overseas and non-resident Pakistanis which is called “Roshan Digital Account”. 

Pakistan has entered into the new era of digitizing the banking systems for non-resident overseas Pakistanis and took the banking system right to their doorstep around the world. The State Bank of Pakistan in collaboration with the commercial banks operating in Pakistan has launched a new initiative “Roshan Digital Account” whereby non-resident Pakistanis / overseas Pakistanis all over the world are being provided an opportunity to remotely open an account in Pakistan through digital and online process without any need to visit in person a bank branch. This process would require only a basic set of information and documents. The banks will complete the necessary procedure in this regard within 48 hours. The Roshan Digital Account will enable the following:- 
👉Provide access to all conventional account services including funds transfer, bill payments for the families of Pakistani diaspora, e-commerce and other payments in Pakistan 
👉Enable investment in specially designed saving instruments for non-resident Pakistanis called “Naya Pakistan Certificates”. These instruments will be available in both Pak rupees as well as US dollars at short and long term tenors with attractive rates of return in both conventional and Sharia compliant forms 
👉Allow non-resident overseas Pakistanis to invest in fixed deposit products offered by banks 
👉Enable the non-resident Pakistanis to invest in Pakistan stock market.  
👉Enable the non-resident overseas Pakistanis to perform residential and commercial real estate related transactions in Pakistan The Roshan Digital Account will be backed by debit and virtual debit cards for both domestic and overseas use. Non-resident  overseas Pakistanis can choose either Rupee-denominated account or a foreign currency account or both. These would be interoperable and enable real time online conversation from foreign currency to Pakistani rupee and vice versa. Funds in the Roshan Digital Account will be fully transferable and can be remitted back from Pakistan without any regulatory approval. A number of Pakistani banks have already enabled this service on their websites. Pakistani community members are encouraged to avail this unique opportunity.
