How to apply for Pakistani passport for new born baby?
1. First of all you need to register the new born baby in the nearest Embassy/High Commission/Consulate General of Pakistan where the child has born; and to apply for Form S-1 within one year from the date of birth of the child. Click here for detail of S-1 Form.
2. After obtaining the S-1 Form, then you need to apply for the child NICOP online on the NADRA website. Click here for NADRA website.
3. After having the NICOP then you need to apply for the child Machine Readable Passport(MRP). Keep in mind that first passport of the child has to be applied by visiting in person along with child to the nearest Embassy/High Commission/Consulate General of Pakistan. If there is no Embassy of Pakistan in a country where the child has born, then you need to visit the nearest accredited Embassy of Pakistan in another nearby country.
4. If a child is born in Pakistan, then he/she should be register with NADRA in Pakistan by applying for Computerized Registration Certificate (CRC) (formerly known as Form-B).
5. Sometimes, many people do not know about the Registration of new born baby in the nearest Embassy of Pakistan and they apply for the child registration/Form S-1 after one year. In such, cases the applicant can directly apply online for the child NICOP on the above NADRA website. However, NADRA always ask about the child birth certificate in English Language, having name of the child parents and date of birth/place of birth of the child. If NADRA ask for the attested birth certificate of the child from the Embassy of Pakistan where the child has born, then you should first attest it from the Foreign Ministry of that country where the child has born and then from the nearest Embassy of Pakistan. For example, if a child has born in Sweden and his parents did not register him with the Embassy of Pakistan, Stockholm, Sweden and also did not get the child Form S-1 within one year. Then the child parents should directly apply for the child NICOP online on the NADRA website. However, the child birth certificate must be in English Language; and should be attested by the Embassy of Pakistan, Stockholm, Sweden.
6. While applying for the child NICOP on NADRA website, if the NADRA system require passport number of the child, in such case you may give one of the parents passport number or type 0000000 (zero).
7. Keep in mind that NICOP can only be applied for the children who born outside of Pakistan irrespective of the child age. However, children born in Pakistan can only apply for Computerized Registration Certificate (CRC) (formerly known as Form-B).
8. In case of Emergency, after obtaining Form S-1, an Emergency Single Sheet Travel Document (some people call it out pass) can be obtained from the nearest Embassy of Pakistan. However, it is advisable to avoid travelling on Emergency Passport except in extreme emergency. Because once you leave your country of residence for Pakistan on Emergency passport, you may have problem of obtaining a re-entry visa on such emergency passport because it is normally issued for very limited period of time mostly less than three months. And it may not be possible to get re-entry visa on emergency passport which has less than 6 months validity.
I hope the above explanation would be enough to guide the prospective applicants, in case you have any suggestions and advice, kindly leave your comments.

Is it sufficient to get a NICOP for my baby and not get him a Pakistani passport? Will that be enough for travelling to Pakistan? Baby already has passport of another country.
ReplyDeleteYes. If the child has NICOP and also holds Swedish or Finnish or other country passport, he can travel to Pakistan having both NICOP and other foreign country passport. There is no , need to have Pakistani Passport. For travelling any country valid d passport along with valid Pakistani Visa or Valid NICOP or Valid POC is good enough to travel to Pakistan.
